We know traffic and pedestrian safety is important to our community. Last week, four officers were certified to use radar to help with education and enforcement. Watch those speeds and make sure to look both ways before stepping off the curb!

“This week, in COVID safe ceremonies for their families, three members of EPD were officially sworn in by A/Chief Lawless after they earned promotions during the year. 

Kraig Strum was promoted to Sergeant and is overseeing our Traffic/Special Operations Unit. He has been with EPD for 8 years. 

Ryan Speer was promoted to Corporal and is currently leading a patrol squad in an Acting Sergeant role. He has been with EPD for 12 years.

Jason Robinson was promoted to Corporal and is assigned to a patrol squad. He remains partnered with K9 Hobbs. He was been with EPD for 10 years.

Congratulations to Officer Erik Sanchez and Officer Breanna Trimble on their graduation from the police academy today. Class 806 began back in February before the academy was shut down due to Covid. This class was the first full session to deal with Covid restrictions.

Congratulations to Officer Tanner Locke for completing Field Training! Tanner is the most recent of the seven academy graduates we will have this year to complete this step. You will see Officer Locke working solo patrol on night shift.

 
 

A advisory from Animal Control: Earlier this week a resident had their dog attacked by a coyote. While the dog is currently recovering, here are some top tips to help when encountering a coyote:

  • Be loud!

  • Have a flashlight or a flashing light.

  • Don’t leave food out.

  • Avoid a routine.
